Peter began his tax career in 2000 as an attorney at Hill & Barlow in Boston, where he focused his practice on mergers and acquisitions and tax planning for large corporations and high-net worth individuals. Following the dissolution of that firm in 2003, Peter moved back to his home state of Maine and accepted a position in the tax department at a large regional accounting firm, where he later earned his CPA designation. In the twelve years he spent at a large regional accounting firm, Peter had the opportunity to design and implement the firm’s paperless system, as well as serve as a Director and Chair of the tax department for many years.
Prior to his career as a tax attorney and CPA, Peter served as a math teacher in the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe (1991-94), and later worked as a math teacher at Hebron Academy (1994-96).
Peter, along with his co-founders Walker and Kelly, founded Dufour Tax Group, LLC on January 1st, 2015 with a sole mission to provide strategic and comprehensive tax planning and compliance services to businesses and individuals worldwide.
Peter is a graduate of the University of Maine, with a B.S., with high distinction, in Applied Mathematics. He earned his dual Law degree, cum laude, and M.B.A. at Boston College.
Walker Matthews, CPA

Walker began his tax career at a large regional accounting firm in 2011, as an associate working in both the tax and audit groups. After his initial year there, he decided to focus his practice solely on tax and was quickly assigned some of the largest and most complex corporate clients in the firm. Walker earned his CPA designation in the fall of 2014.
Walker is a co-founder of Dufour Tax Group, LLC, and focuses his practice on tax planning and compliance for our business clients.
Walker received his B.A. in History and Classics, magna cum laude, in 2008 from Williams College, where he also served on an advisory board for faculty hiring and taught swing dancing with his wife, Allie. He received his certificate degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Maine in 2012.
Amy Chute, CPA, MBA
Amy began her accounting and tax career in 2012 at a large regional accounting firm in the audit and tax groups working on small businesses and nonprofits. While at a large regional accounting firm, Amy earned her CPA in early 2014. Amy has also managed a small nonprofit accounting department, where she gained another perspective on period closings, internal reporting and audits.
At Dufour Tax Group, Amy focuses on helping clients with tax compliance and outsourced controllership/CFO services, including internal reporting and controls.
Amy’s additional professional experiences include various roles in research, management, and sales in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Amy earned her B.A. in Biochemistry, summa cum laude, in three years from Bowdoin College. While working full time Amy has earned a M.S. in Applied Immunology, a MBA with finance concentration, and a M.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern Maine.
Kelly Dufour, CFO
Kelly began her career in accounting at Verrill Dana, LLP, where she worked for many years on a variety of corporate and payroll-related matters. Kelly also has extensive experience in event management for non-profits, having managed one of the area’s premier charity auctions for many years (and raising well over six figures during her tenure) as well as many other charitable fundraising and social events.
Kelly is a co-founder of Dufour Tax Group, LLC, overseeing and managing all aspects of the firm’s administrative and accounting functions. She focuses her tax practice on tax planning and compliance for individuals.
Jordan kennedy, Staff Accountant
Jordan began his career in accounting in the wholesale food industry, working with the team at Erin Baker’s Wholesome Baked Goods to navigate the many nuances of their enterprise. Through financial analysis, sales tracking and forecasting as well as following up with delinquent receivables he gleaned insight into business operations on the national stage. Additionally as a QuickBooks Online Certified Pro Advisor Jordan is well equipped to assist with outsourced controllership services.
Jordan received his B.A. in Resort Management with a Minor in Accounting from Western State Colorado University in 2012. Since leaving the western parts of our country Jordan has moved back to his native Maine where he is currently pursuing a certificate degree in Accounting through the University of Maine.
Katie Palmer, Executive Administrative Assistant and Marketing Director
Katie joined the team in 2017, facilitating in the expansion of our firm by assisting Kelly with the firm’s administrative and accounting functions. Katie is the first person you will see when you visit our firm, and will greet and direct you to the appropriate office, as well as schedule you an appointment, help answer questions, and make sure you have a good experience in our office. Katie also keeps our website up to date so you can easily follow the firm’s presence in the news and community.
